VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher Award
Congratulations to Ron Lysinger for winning the District and State Citizenship Award. Ron has been an exceptional Career Advisor at NPHS. He has been an outstanding teacher in the district for the past eight years. He is also a Cross Country Coach, VFW, veteran assembly leader, student advisor, and in his spare time he is also the career advisor at NPHS. He has been a pleasure to work with and as his supervisor at New Plymouth High School, I have found him to be caring, highly organized, and dedicated to his work. Ron is a leader who has given New Plymouth stability and continuity and has allowed for student success. He works with all students at NPHS to ensure that they get the assistance they need to help our students find leadership experiences in all branches of the armed forces: information, civic responsibilities, patriotism, flag etiquette and American traditions. What I appreciate most about Ron is his ability to engage others in the patriotism and leadership roles at NPHS because of his military background. He is focused on doing what is right for kids despite the difficult challenges that we currently face in education and the world today. He also has a deep and complete understanding of student leadership and how it should be utilized in the classroom to motivate students for post-secondary opportunities. Currently Mr. Lysinger schedules over 20 yearly visits from a variety of local military recruiters to promote patriotism as a potential career pathway. Ron’s kind-hearted reflective nature and passion surrounding patriotism, school climate, career advising and school leadership. I have been impressed with his civic responsibility, flexibility, teaching techniques, and leadership. He also challenges students to step outside of that comfort zone and deal with a broad range of topics. His success is due, in part, to his strong reflective approach to life and education. He has his feet, mind, and his heart firmly planted in the world of education. Congratulations, Ron is now a national candidate. Thanks for all you do for our students.
The Governor’s Stage 2 Idaho Rebounds Order has been updated for extracurricular activities. For tonight’s game at Nampa Christian 4 guests will be allowed for each player. Social distancing of 6 feet from non household members is expected and masks are required when this is not possible. Information for tomorrow’s girls basketball and games next week will come later. Thank you for your cooperation.
