NPHS FALL DUAL CREDIT:

Hello dual credit students and parents. Statements will be going out to all dual credit students with outstanding balances on October 16, 2017. There are two main sources of outside funding that may be seen on these statements, Fast Forward funding and resident county tuition assistance.

Fast Forward funding that has been approved by the school district will be reflected on the statement. If the statement does not reflect fast forwarding funding it is likely that funding was either not requested or not approved by the school district. Students will be directed to contact their School District or High School with questions related to Fast Forward funding.

If a student resides in a county other than Ada, Bonneville, Canyon, Jerome, Kootenai, or Twin Falls, they should have submitted a Certificate of Residency to their county to request tuition assistance. If it has been more than a month since a student submitted a Certificate of Residency and county assistance is not reflected on their statement they are encouraged to contact their county to check on the status of their Certificate of Residency. The deadline to submit the Certificate of Residency form and any supporting documentation to their county for the 2017 Fall term is November 30, 2017.

Students are encouraged to use myCWI, https://mycwi.cc to view details on their account balances and will be provided with our One Stop Student Services phone number, (208) 562-3000 as a point of contact for any questions.

COUNSELOR’S CORNER:

October is National Bully Prevention Month

The first question: Is it bullying?

Rude vs Mean Vs Bullying

  • Rude = Inadvertently saying or doing something that hurts someone else.

  • Mean = Purposefully saying or doing something to hurt someone once (or maybe twice).

  • Bullying = Intentionally aggressive behavior, repeated over time, that involves an imbalance of power.

Experts agree that bullying entails three key elements: an intent to harm, a power imbalance and repeated acts or threats of aggressive behavior. Kids who bully, say or do something intentionally hurtful to others and they keep doing it, with no sense of regret or remorse — even when targets of bullying show or express their hurt or tell the aggressors to stop.

It is important to distinguish between rude, mean and bullying so that teachers, school administrators, police, youth workers, parents and kids all know what to pay attention to and when to intervene.
